School of Business

In 2016 we opened our first sub-school – the School of Business. The School of Business offers courses dedicated to helping students to specialise in studies of Accounting and Business related fields, while ensuring students course selections remain broad enough to ensure the development of key literacy and numeracy skills.

Our focus on Leadership sees us integrate classroom learning with seminars and opportunities in leadership. This helps students develop a greater understanding of management and business in general.

Our School of Business attracts students who have the desire to further their studies in Business at the tertiary level. We understand that most students will want to go on to University to complete their studies of Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Law, Management, Marketing or some related pathway. We assist them to maximise their ATAR and help them achieve their goals.

From 2017 our hope is to provide units in VET Accounting so students can work towards early completion of a selection of Certificate III and IV Accounting units. Some of these units are included in Certificate IV and Diploma level courses in Accounting and Business

Excursions

NMGC’s School of Business conducts excursions and other events over the course of the year. These excursions and events take a Business perspective.

NMGC itself also runs excursions and activities designed to bring students together and to make them feel more at home in Melbourne.

All excursions and related activities are advertised in the College Calendar.

The Graduation Guarantee

All students who successfully complete their VCE within the NMGC School of Business (ie they satisfy the requirements of the VCE Certificate and have successfully completed at least 16 units) and who do NOT get into their preferred course, will be offered a place in one of Southern Cross Education Institute’s Accounting or Business courses. (SCEI is an education provider of TAFE courses and is our parent company.)

Therefore, as a minimum all of our School of Business students will be able to complete their studies knowing that upon successful completion of their Year 12 year, they have a guaranteed pathway into further business-oriented studies if they do not achieve their desired ATAR
